    This 3-day course combines lectures, practical exercises, and case studies to equip the next generation of geoscientists with essential exploration concepts and tools. 

    The course focuses on the fundamentals of an effective petroleum system, with emphasis on global tectonics and the processes of basin formation, filling, and deformation. Key elements of petroleum systems, such as source rock characteristics, hydrocarbon migration, overburden, reservoir properties (lithology, porosity, permeability, and architecture), seal rock integrity, structural and stratigraphic traps, and the timing and preservation of hydrocarbons, will be covered, alongside volumetric analysis. 

    Participants will also become familiar with essential prospecting tools, including seismic and non-seismic methods, log evaluation, mapping, bio- and sequence stratigraphy, well correlation techniques, and the use of direct hydrocarbon indicators. 

    In addition, the course will address the integration of modern technologies such as AI, machine learning, and big data in exploration. Emerging sustainability trends, including natural hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS), will also be explored, offering insights into the future of energy exploration.
